| Biographical Sketch
Dr. Michael Mazzatenta received his Doctor of Music Arts degree in Organ Performance from Arizona State University and performs as a concert organist, accompanist, handbell director, and jazz pianist. His Bachelors and Masters degrees were completed at the University of Michigan.
Michael has won awards for both performance and composition, including his history-making "double-win" awarded by Area II of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers for original handbell compositions in both the adult and youth categories.
He is also the editor of the Complete Gospel Preludes for Organ by William Bolcom, recently published by E.B. Marks Music.
Michael teaches Class Piano, Organ, Composition, Music Theory, Aural Perception, and co-coaches the Jazz Combo at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (Chandler, AZ) and accompanies the Vocal Jazz Choir at Mesa Community College (Mesa, AZ).
Extremely versatile in both classical and jazz music, you might see him freelancing in jazz clubs one night and accompaning a concert choir the next! He also performs as a duo with his twin brother-guitarist, Mark (Instructor at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro) in varied programs of classical, jazz, and original compositions.

Michael is currently a member of ASCAP, the American Guild of Organists, and is the Chair of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Area XI (AZ, CO, UT, WY, NM). He resides with his wife Joan, also a musician as well as a realtor for Maricopa Realty and Trust, in Mesa, Arizona.
